Few Important Verses from Inscription
Verse 21: Construction of the temple
The Anayachandra or Meghasuta erected this beautiful temple of Vishnu-Hari, in a bid to find the easiest way to cross over “the ocean of worldly attachments” (i.e. attain moksha or salvation). The temple was built using blocks of large sculpted stones: no preceding king had built a temple on this scale. The shikhara(spire) of the temple was adorned with a golden kalasha (cupola).
Verse 27: Different Incarnation of the Vishnu
Verse 27 (damaged in part) alludes to the episodes of Vishnu‘s incarnation as Narasimha (who killed Hirnyakasipu), Krishna (who killed Banasura), Vamana (who destroyed Bali) and Rama (who killed ten-headed Ravana).
We often heard that history repeats itself but what if we don’t have any evidence of history itself, how are we going to identify that history is repeating now? Our ancestors had a very good habit to inscribe important information of their time on the walls whether it is a temple wall or fort wall and any community center wall.
And see, due to one of an ancient inscription, it got proved in the court that there was temple at-least three centuries older than the mosque. In the same way, it is yet to prove for Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga which was converted to the Mosque as well in the 12th century. After learning all this event, it is our responsibility to learn and save our culture and history. Our ancestors had done their job in an excellent way. Now it is our turn to preserve our culture and heritage.
